I FINALLY changed the music on my blog. I am sorry to everyone that I didn't put it on random shuffle. I know you are sick of "Think of Me"... Anyway, I heard this song the other day and I couldn't help but smile. Turn up the volume and have a listen. Who does it remind you of???

Aspen Grove
We had a great time at our family reunion. It was fun to visit with cousins that we haven't been seen in a while. These are some of the things we did.

Our reunion always starts with a family picture. Don't worry this is not the final picture. This is just a candid shot while we were getting ready for the professional to take the real one. There were 105 of us this year. We had generational shirts this year. Red = Gma and Don, Green = Aunts and Uncles, Brown = grandchildren, Blue = great grand children. Thanks Tami for the picture.

We had 65 of us participate. Matt wasn't planning on playing because of his knee but at the last minute he decided he could play only off his right foot. Matt and I both won for the longest drive! We won a BYU driver cover and BYU golf towel.

Happy Independance Day!
I love the 4th of July and this year was no different. The morning started early by running the Freedom Run. Matt had plans to run it but because of his knee he had to back out.

We went boating and had dinner at the lake. We have started spending the night of the 4th of July at the lake. That is the time most people head home to bbq and do fireworks so that means we have the lake to ourselves! We had almost the whole family at the Lake minus Norm and Diane and Darrell.
These are pictures from the night before at the lake. It was just Matt, me, Nate and Tara. Hopefully someone will send me some pictures of the 4th.

After we went boating on the 4th Matt and I decided to try and find a spot to watch the Stadium of Fire fireworks so we jumped on the scooter and cruised around. We saw the whole fireworks display but the real finale is when we saw the park go up in flames near our house. We saw it burn and burn and burn even before the fire trucks were there. Luckily they put it out fast and no buildings were burned.

Surgery, Kim Johnson and more...
WARNING this is a LONG POST and I have no pictures
As you know Matt hurt his knee months ago. He finally got it checked out and got bad news. The soonest they could get Matt in for surgery was Thursday, July 10. Matt wanted to get surgery ASAP so he asked...
Matt "If anyone cancels can you call me to come in?"
Receptionist "Sorry, Dr. Rosenberg will be out of town for three weeks so nothing will open up"
Matt "Ok"
Then on the same day this was announced Matt got a call from the receptionist at the doctors office wanting to change Matt's surgery to an earlier date on Tuesday, June 24 (yes the same day as our anniversary so we had to change our plans.) The receptionist said "something opened up" We knew we had the inside scoop. Matt was scheduled to get surgery the same day as Tiger by the same surgeon!
Monday, June 23 rolled around we made all the preparations needed so Matt would be ready for surgery. He had his hat and sharpie ready for Tiger to sign (just in case...). Matt was to be at the Heber hospital at 7am. Then early Tuesday morning at 12:30am the call came. Matt's brother-in-law Andrew called Matt and told him his Dad had passed away. Matt's dad had been suffering from a disease for the last 5 years called Dementia with Lewy Bodies. For the last few months his dad had been doing worse and worse. Matt was able to spend some time with his dad back in February and I know he will remember that time forever. We knew that the time would come that Kim would pass, but we weren't expecting it so soon. Matt was able to call the hospital that night and tell him he would not be in for surgery. We feel so lucky that we were able to attend the funeral and be with family that week. If Matt's dad had passed just 8 hours later Matt would have been in surgery and I don't know how we would have made it to Naperville.
Just for the record for all you non-believers on Tuesday, June 24 this was in the press
We were all able to fly out to Naperville thanks to Matt's mom. Besides our bad experience with canceled flights and poor customer service that have made me want to veto certain airlines (Delta and United) we had a really nice time, considering the circumstances. It was such a nice tribute to Matt's dad all weekend long. All the brothers spoke at the funeral and did such a great job speaking about what a great, fun and loving person Kim was. Matt and I were married after his dad was already showing signs of the disease so I didn't know Kim like Matt did. I am so glad that I was able to hear all the great things about his dad. However, I have threatened Matt to not try some of the things his dad got away with....like water over the shower. After the weekend in Naperville we all flew back to Utah for the burial. Kim is buried in the Santaquin Cemetery. The burial was again another nice tribute of a great man. We are glad that we live close enough that we will be able to visit the cemetery often.
Matt did reschedule his surgery for the original date of July 10...that's another long post so stay tuned...:)

Has it really been 3 years!
Matt and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary in June. For our past anniversary's we have spent the weekend in Park City but this year we decided to try the Zermatt resort in Midway. We still made our way to Park City to eat at Bandits which is one of my favs. They have yummy sweet potatoes drenched in butter and brown sugar and the onion loaf is delicious! We were so stuffed after dinner that we passed on dessert but once we got to Midway we were both wishing we had dessert. Everything was closed so we had to settle with an over priced Milky Way, Snickers and Sour Patch kids out of the vending Machine...how romantic :) Sorry no pics
I was on hiatus...but I am BaCk!!!
Anyone else find it hard to blog in the summer time? The last three weeks have consisted of our 3 year anniversary, Matt's Dad's funeral, surgery, pool time, boating, running, family reunions, helping Sam and Laura move, 4th of July celebrations and unfortunately work. Needless to say I have not been a faithful blogger. I am going to do my best to capture each occasion. Remember people...this blogging thing is for me, not you so feel free to skip over whatever you want:)
